Guliafshan Tariq

Guliafshan Tariq is a sportswoman, trained MMA fighter, athlete, climber, trekker, cyclist, social activist, peace activist, and human rights activist from Jhawerian Pakistan. By profession she is Computer Engineer and graduated from the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (CEME) at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, which is not only ranked top among all of the engineering institutions in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan, but is also internationally recognized. 

She is the founder of Pace for Peace and promotes peace and love throughout Pakistan by riding her cycle. She has conducted many cycle rallies in different cities of Pakistan to promote peace, and to show the soft image of Pakistan around Globe. She is removing the concept of “bechari Orat” from Pakistans reputation. Her mission is promote a positive message of Pakistan. 

Her father is considered the True Hero of Pakistan. He fought two battles in the 1965 war and in 1971. While fighting against India in Bangladesh, he lost one of his legs. The way he believes in himself and has moved on is a big inspiration for Guliafshan and has given her courage to not lose hope and always do things to further raise her countrys flag. 

There was a time when Guliafshan was unable to even walk due to an injury to her knee ligament, but with self-motivatio, she stood up and has since achieved a great deal for Pakistan. Her lifes achievements have been covered by VOA, BCC News, CNN News and all mainstream Pakistani channels, newspapers, and radio stations. 

Frequent participation and consecutive successes in sports have proved to be a great motivator in every aspect of her life which have enabled her to groom her leadership qualities for managing tasks strategically in an organized fashion. Therefore, she is a great believer in making the most out of opportunities and taking risks. 

She has participated in national competitions; in cycling she won the national silver medal in a scratch race, and she participated in the national wall-climbing competition. 

She learned Parasailing from Dubai, and received her paragliding certification from the Pakistan Army and is now under training to make Pakistans first women paragliding team.

She believes sports are best way to break all barriers and show the real talent and power of Pakistani girl as loving, talented people who can compete with the rest of the world.

She has attempted the ‘national record’ of cycling, at over 4693m of height and covering 1000Km distance by reaching Khunjerab (Pak-China border) and back in September 2015 with complete media coverage. Not to mention that the route chosen for her tour was the toughest in terms of climate, elevations and environmental conditions. Her name is officially recognized by the Pakistan Book of Records. She’s making documentaries and videos in different parts of Pakistan through her cycling and focus on showing the real beauty of Pakistan internationally.

Guliafshan Tariq has broken the record of cycling to the highest border in the world. Below are some further notes on Guliafshan:  

•      She is a motivational speaker, visiting school and colleges and promoting peace and giving awareness regarding education and health.

•      She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Payam-e-Pakistan forum.

•      She is an athletics champion at the national level since 2009.

•      She is part of the Motivational Academy Pakistan and give talks as a Key Note speaker.

•      She won the national silver medal in a scratch race.

•      She is an army-certified paraglider and trained in ASPT, Kakul. 

•      Her named was officially registered in the Pakistan Book of Records.

•      She was awarded with ‘Youth Innovative Award’ 2015, in Mingora, Swat.

•      Her story got published in Qaiser Abbas book, ShabashKahani and Humans of Pakistan.

•      Her life story got published in an international book by AJALA.

•      Her name was selected in TOP 10 Youth ambassadors of Pakistan 2015.

•      She was awarded by ‘Hunarmand Pakistan’, TahiraQaziShaheed Awards. 

•      This year she was invited by TEDx Islamabad as key note speaker.

•      She is officially brand ambassador of ‘Pakistan Children Heart Foundation’ and spread their message about congenital heart diseases through her cycling rallies.

•      She is brand ambassador for ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ and promoting cleaning and awareness campaign.

•      She joined the ‘Anti-Narcotics Force’ as a youth ambassador and is promoting awareness to against the usage of drugs.

•      Qualified for Pakistan Cycling Association Islamabad for Women’s Competition in 2015.

•      She has been awarded an International Cycling License from the cycling federation of Pakistan.

•      She already gives talks on different platforms like “Grab it Global”, “MUN Multan”, “Jago Islamabad”, “NUST”, and others.
