N-Peace newly offers civil society organisations (CSOs) the opportunity to apply for awards and small grants as of 2018. The CSO award applications submitted to N-Peace this year demonstrate the scope of the commendable work implemented by civil society in the Asia and Pacific region relating to Women, Peace and Security.
Nine N-Peace Awards for CSOs are available every year – one from each programming country forwarding local initiatives, one for youth-led initiatives, and one for cross-border initiatives. Winning CSOs are awarded with a small grant to implement a proposed project, training, and advocacy. While there are nine annual awards available, N-Peace also presents runners-up with partial funding for their projects.
CSOs who demonstrate competency in the following areas are eligible to apply:
- Legal Status: CSOs must have legal status either in the Philippines, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or Pakistan
- Mandate, policies and governance: CSOs must be under a not-for-profit mandate with a clear organizational structure, and must share UNDPs principles of human development – particularly the principles of equality and non-discrimination
- Constituency and external support: CSOs must have clear constituency and proof of partnerships with other CSOs or governments
- Capacity for Project Management: CSOs must have the technical, managerial, administrative and financial capacity to implement the project they propose.
