Community Solutions Initiative (CSI)

During the decade long conflict in Nepal that ended in 2006 with the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, women experienced serious human rights violations including systematic use of torture, kidnapping, violence, and rape. The National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security aimed to support the participation and leadership of women in all levels of decision-making, and to address the specific needs of women and girls in the design and implementation of all relief and recovery programs.

The Community Solutions Initiative (CSI) is a not-for-profit, civil society organization registered in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2006. The organization’s main purpose lies in implementing community activities that empower women and girls, advocate to create a safe environment for women, critically analyze policies and provide recommendations for promoting women’s participation in leadership. CSI seeks our support for better implement the National Action Plan, specifically in relations to the prevention of violence and discrimination against women and ensuring the meaningful participation of women in conflict resolutions and peacebuilding. Through this partnership with N-Peace, the organization aims to conduct dialogues between the government and key stakeholders in Kathmandu, that improve women’s vulnerable situation in conflict-affected communities. The dialogue will serve as a platform of collective efforts that ensure the outcomes and recommendations of the meeting feed into policies and programmes in the country.
