After thirty years of conflict, Sri Lankan’s are embracing the future and working hard to address the series of challenges left behind by the war, including the children and young people who were recruited to fight.
Bernadine Anderson is relentlessly working to harness the transformative potential of education to rehabilitate child combatants, who were robbed of their childhood and an education. She runs La Petite Fleur, a school which gives another chance at getting an enriching educational experience in what’s left of their formative years.
Bernadine, along with other teachers from the school, focuses on emotional development and cognitive expansion. Over, 1 2,186 former child combatants have been supported by Bernadine’s work.
