Hameeda Waheeduddin Mian

A seasoned politician, Hameeda Waheeduddin Mian uses her life experiences to map out avenues to promote gender equality and equal participation through legislative efforts, entrepreneurship and peace development. Her work is wide ranging and encompasses gendered medical response, maternal healthcare, disaster relief and economic empowerment. Hameeda currently serves as a Member of the Provincial Assembly, having been elected three times (2002, 2013 and 2018). During her term in office she assisted in advocating for The Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Act in 2016 and in developing the following policies: Domestic Workers’ policy, Home-Based Workers’ policy, and Women Development policy. These policies have resulted in more women in business being supported through the adoption of gender sensitive practices, for example the rise in the number of day care centres in workplaces.

Hameeda is also the Founder of Hana Trading Salt, a company which receives a portion of its funding from the Hana Development Council to initiate projects that range from the establishment of a Mother-Child Healthcare hospital in Mandi Bahauddin, to free medical services including ambulance and dispensary, and providing support for those affected by the floods in Rajanpur of 2010.
