Huma Chughtai (Pakistan)
Recognized as a prominent figure in Pakistan, Huma Chughtai is shifting the perception of women, emphasising their potential to support security and sustainable peace.
Chughtai is currently the consultant and technical advisor to the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Pakistan in which she lobbies policy makers to involve more women in peacebuilding. She is also the Director of Programs in the Federal Judicial Academy, where she leads the training of novice professionals of law on human rights, women, peace and security, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, and gender mainstreaming. Her latest area of work involves raising the awareness of key policy and decision makers on the role of women in countering and preventing violent extremism.
Chughtai was also involved in the development of the Pakistani National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security as the legal advisor of the Ministry of Women Development, and has played a key role in developing a training module for peacekeepers in Pakistan.
