Nasima Bari

Nasima Bari is an author and journalist who engages her platform to shine a light on women’s experiences, and advocate for their empowerment. The author of feminist works such as ‘The Monster’s Shadow’ and ‘The Clay Oil Lamp’, Nasima’s stories touch on issues faced by ordinary Afghan women; with themes including early and forced marriages, as well as violence against women.

Her exemplary work in civil spaces through electoral support and overall sustainable development at provincial levels coupled with her continued media advocacy has resulted in her quest for gender equality and inclusion being commemorated at a national level through the photo-exhibition at the Presidential Palace.

Nasima has been recognized by the Ministry of Information and Culture for her literary works and is the recipient of the Global Youth Leadership Awards (2019), as well as the Asia Inspiration Award (2018).
